Overview
Surface Study 01 is a small reference archive for tactile, imperfect materials. It exists to give future miniature builds better texture logic and to support design work that should feel connected to physical surfaces instead of default digital smoothness.
Process
Each surface is photographed with minimal intervention. Handmade diffusion, close light placement, and small angle changes are used to understand how concrete dust, painted card, worn metal, and coated paper respond when the key gets low and the shadows stay present.
What Changed
The study became more useful once it got quieter. Earlier variants pushed contrast too hard and turned every texture into a statement. The stronger direction is restrained: let the surface speak, keep the tonal range believable, and document enough variation to make the archive practical.
